About Arxspan ELN

Arxspan ELN is a cloud-based Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) that centralizes experiment capture for chemistry and biology teams. It unifies protocols, results, and files in a secure, searchable workspace. With zero local installations and rapid deployment, organizations get up and running quickly while maintaining enterprise-grade security, and version control. The Arxspan ELN can be paired with our Registration and Inventory products to eliminate data silos from experiment to registered entity storage.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How does Arxspan support chemistry and biology workflows?

Arxspan ELN supports chemistry and biology research with workflows integrated in a single platform. Built-in chemical intelligence alongside support for complex biologic workflows allows scientists from multiple disciplines to work together in a single system.

2. How does Arxspan support data integrity and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements?

Arxspan ELN provides capabilities designed to support regulated research environments, including audit trails, user activity logs, electronic signing and witnessing workflows, access controls, version tracking, and support for system validation. Organizations should evaluate and validate the configured system and their operating procedures according to their specific regulatory requirements.

3. How is Arxspan ELN deployed, and what IT infrastructure is required?

Arxspan ELN is delivered through the secure Arxspan Cloud and is accessible from a web browser. There is no local ELN software, application server, or database for the customer to install and maintain. Cloud deployment, regular backups, disaster-recovery provisions, and included software updates help reduce the infrastructure and maintenance burden on internal IT teams.

4. Can Arxspan integrate with existing scientific tools and research workflows?

Arxspan can integrate with other tools and be slotted into existing workflows. With API capabilities and configuration, it can be directly integrated with many common platforms.

5. Can Arxspan modules be purchased separately?

Each Arxspan module can be purchased individually. This allows companies to customize product options to their individual needs. Modules can even be added/restricted on a user-by-user level, so you only purchase what you need.

6. Can I migrate existing legacy data into Arxspan?

Yes, legacy data from many other systems can be migrated into Arxspan. This data can be searched like any native data.

7. Who is eligible for an Arxspan trial, and how long does it last?

The current trial program offers a 30-day trial for academic users with a valid academic email address and a 14-day trial for industrial users with a non-generic company or organization email domain. Trial requests are submitted through the Arxspan ELN trial page on the SciY website.

8. What is included in the Arxspan trial?

The trial includes Arxspan Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) for evaluating chemistry and biology research workflows. Other Arxspan modules, such as Registration and Inventory, are not currently included. The trial is provided for evaluation purposes, and data migration and extraction services are not included in the trial.

9. What happens after I submit the trial form, and when will I receive access?

The trial-provisioning process is automated. After submitting the form, you should receive an acknowledgement followed by a separate email containing your Arxspan login link and credentials. If the credentials do not arrive within 15 minutes, check your junk or spam folder and then contact the support team for assistance.

10. Can several members of my lab or research team evaluate Arxspan together?

Yes. Multiple people from the same lab, institution, or company can evaluate Arxspan together, and only one person from the organization needs to submit the initial trial request. If you need help adding colleagues to the trial environment, contact the Arxspan support team.

11. What support and onboarding resources are available during the trial?

Arxspan provides an online support center with searchable user guides covering experiments, notebooks, projects, files, searching, signing, and other common tasks. From the Arxspan ELN dashboard, select the question-mark icon to open the knowledge base. If you cannot find the answer you need, you can submit a request to Arxspan support.
